Death Toll
Hey everyone...
Sorry I wasnt able to post here since I was myself tensed for my near and dear ones back home. Thanks to prayers of millions of people who were praying for people back home. I have heard some horrible stories about number of people who have died and are still waiting for water supplies to restore.
I spoke to my family yestd afternoon and they were all fine. But my uncles place located near new Richi-Rich, parle point was covered by water. I have tried contacting people living near Athwa Gate but BSNL phone lines were still dead.
Hats off to my friend who was sending me updates from water submerged Nanpura. I told her to send me msgs and switch off her phone therefore she could be in touch with me through all this days of grief and pain.
The major task ahead for Surat will be recovering from this trauma and cleanliness thereoff. My friends located in Bhatar said that SMC authorities were quick to act in their area since they had come to their society and asked residents to clean their houses and leave the roads upto the authorities. By nightfall they had sprinkled fertilizers and cleared roads.

Hi,
I am in Philadelphia and my uncle Hitendra Bhatt, my cousin Pratik Bhatt, live in Ratneshwar Mahadev street in Rander. We have not been able to contact them for the last few days. Any information about them you can provide is much appreciate.
Thanks for this blog,
Jay
Hi Jay,
Conditions in Surat are improving day by day. Sadly Rander, Adajan, Ved, Katargam, Adajan Gam and parts of Surat on Gujarat Gas Circle side have been affected very badly. Day before yestd rabia towers a 4 storyed bldg collapsed. Electricity has been restored in most part of Surat except that around Adajan and Rander. But rest assure water has now receded in those areas and things should be normal pretty soon.
I hope your relatives are safe.
If there is any other information you need please post back and I will try to help you...
BSNL phone services are down in those areas because of flood water and try to contact them on their cell phone. They might have got it on...try your luck
